Sartell High School was awarded two amounts of $2,500 after the St. Cloud Federal Credit Union promised to match a grant.

President and CEO of the credit union, Jed A. Meyer, submitted the grant application to the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation on behalf of the high school. He committed to matching the funds if the grant was awarded.

With a total of $5,000, Sartell High School plans to use the money to help 9th grade students in the social studies department. The freshman students are partnering with Kiva, a global non-profit organization that helps people around the world escape poverty with small loans. It’s the students’ job to create development plans for different parts of the world and present information to a panel.

The project is aimed at helping students learn about developing countries and the process of lending money.
