Archived: Sauk Rapids Man Arrested For DUI After Fleeing From The Scene Of A Crash
A Sauk Rapids man has been arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after he fled the scene of a car accident last Friday.
The Benton County Sheriff’s office says 29-year-old Benjamin Paul Theisen was driving west on 15th Street Northeast and failed to stop at the intersection of Mayhew Lake Road. Theisen’s car was T-boned after pulling out in front of 50-year-old Barbra Lori who was driving south on Mayhew Lake Road. Theisen then fled on foot leaving his passenger, 28-year-old Brady Eugene Haugen, trapped in the car.
Theisen was later found in the parking lot of a business in Sauk Rapids.The investigating deputies say he was under the influence of alcohol and was arrested for DUI, criminal vehicular operation, and leaving the scene of an accident.
His passenger was brought to the St. Cloud Hospital to be evaluated for his injuries.
