A St. Cloud State University Meteorology Professor predicts Tuesday’s storm will result in approximately three inches of new snow and blustery conditions in Central Minnesota.

Bob Weisman says road crews will have difficulty cleaning roads due to the rate of snow fall mid morning Tuesday. St. Cloud will see a mixed bag of precipitation with 1-3 inches of snow accumulation. 

As a result, Weisman says roads are going to be icy Wednesday. Temperatures will fall from 20 degrees in St. Cloud to 10 by Tuesday morning and hover around 10-15 degrees the rest of the day. He says the wind will be blowing 15-30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. The wind chill of minus 20-35 mph together with low temperature will create problems Wednesday night. The low temperature prevents salt from melting ice.

Weisman says the Minnesota River Valley may see mixed bag and 1-3 inches of snow together with some light ice accumulation. Southwestern Minnesota, Pipestone and Marshall will take the brunt of icing threat. The windchill will increase after midnight tonight and results in low visibility while snow is blowing.
