Archived: SCSU Receives Grant From The Bush Foundation To Help Further Diversity In Teaching

St. Cloud State University and the St. Cloud Area School District have received a $150,000 grant from the Bush Foundation to help create a solution to attract more diversity to teaching.

The Bush Foundation Supporting Diversity in Teaching grant will be additional funding used by St. Cloud State’s Teacher Preparation Initiation as a part of its goal to re-envision teacher education.

TPI Director, Rebecca Krystyniak says the grant will fund the creation of a paraprofessional residency program where candidates will be hired in the district to work while also receiving their education from St. Cloud State though online, evening and weekend classes.

Once the program is developed other districts will have the opportunity to create similar partnerships with St. Cloud State.
