Archived: SCSU Recieves Equipment Grant From National Science Foundation

St. Cloud State University’s Chemistry and Biochemistry departments are receiving an equipment upgrade thanks to two grants from the National Science Foundation.

The two grants, totaling over $425,000, will be used to purchase a new Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectrometer and a Dynamic Light Scattering Instrument. These instruments will be used in both classroom and research based activities.

Over the past two years, the SCSU Chemistry Department as secured nearly $600,000 through the National Science Foundation for a variety of equipment used in collaborative faculty and student research as well as in the classroom.

SCSU Chemistry and Biochemistry Professor Latha Ramakrishan says the equipment purchased with the grant money will be used to prepare students for the workforce.
