Archived: SCSU To Host History Day For Area Grade Schools

St. Cloud State University will host a History Day event on March 21 at the Atwood Memorial Center.

The event is for students in grades 6-12 who will show exhibits, websites, documentaries and other things they have created. As the theme of this year is Leadership and Legacy, participants are supposed to base their performance on an in-depth historical analyzed subject.

The event is organized by the SCSU Department of History and co-sponsored by the Minnesota Historical Society and the University of Minnesota’s History Department. Winners of the regional level will take part in the State History Day on May 2nd which will be held at the University of Minnesota. Winners of that competition will advance to the National History Day in June in Washington D.C.

The event will start at 9 a.m. and ends at 2 p.m. when students will receive awards in the Ritchse Auditorium. The number of participants state-wide has grown from 125 to 30,000 over the past 25 years.
