St. Cloud State University will be hosting the SCHEELS Earth Day Run that features 1K, 5K, and half-marathon races on Friday and Saturday.

The event now in its 16th year will have races on the Beaver Island Trail and around Lake George as well as the Capital One Health and Fitness Expo in the Halenbeck Hall field house.

The events are expected to bring thousands of people to the campus and neighborhood to participate. Because of this adjustments have been made to traffic control to ensure the safety of all in the affected area.

On Friday,  5th Ave South between University Dr. and Ramsey Place will close at 6 p.m. and reopen at 8 p.m. On Saturday University Bridge will close by 8 a.m. and will reopen at approximately 9:30 a.m.
