A Bemidji man was hospitalized after a semi-trailer crash in Eden Lake Township early Thursday morning.

The Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner says the accident happened on County Road 9 in Eden Lake Township.

Sanner says 48-year-old Michael Paul Gates of Bemidji was traveling northbound on the road at 2:12 a.m. when he lost the control of the semi-trailer because of the icy road conditions. He veered off into the ditch and sheered off a telephone pole.

Gates was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Members of the Eden Valley Rescue Squad and Watkins Ambulance assisted the Stearns County Sheriff.
