A California man was airlifted to the hospital after hitting a bridge pillar in Sauk Centre Friday night.

The Minnesota State Patrol says 50-year-old Curt Willoughby from Fullerton was heading eastbound in his semi-trailer on Interstate 94 and Highway 71 at about 9 p.m. He crossed the median, went to the opposite direction and hit the bridge pillar.

Willoughby’s semi landed right lane and its load was spread over the westbound lane. He received serious injuries and was airlifted to the St. Cloud Hospital for treatment.
