Soldiers of the Michigan Army National Guard 1437th Engineer Company built a float bridge across the Mississippi River at Camp Ripley Thursday morning.
The Minnesota Department of Military Affairs says the bridge was built by 11 a.m. so military vehicles could cross following approval of safety standards.
A spokesman says the vehicles were going to be crossing the temporary bridge for about an hour. Float bridges have been used in war time and in aid efforts around the world by the military.
