A couple was arrested Saturday night after officers responded to a domestic violence call on the south side of St. Cloud.

When officers arrived they found 42-year-old Edward Charles Lawler outside of a home with a potentially fatal stab wound in his leg. He was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital. Inside the house 35-year-old Angela Joy Johnson was found with visible facial injuries. Investigators were told that Lawler allegedly assaulted Johnson first and abused her dogs. Police say Johnson retaliated and stabbed Lawler in the leg. Johnson was also brought to the St. Cloud Hospital.

Johnson is currently in Stearns county jail on first degree felony assault charges. Lawler was also arrested on assault charges, and because of past criminal history he’s facing felony assault charges.
