A St. Cloud factory owned by Carlson Engineered Composites USA, has paid a $135,000 fine and is now taking corrective measures to fix how they handle hazardous material.

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency says inspection reports from January 2015 showed the factory has been incorrectly disposing and storing of hazardous waste for a long time, some incidents going back to 2008.

Some of their environmental violations include: operating without a hazardous waste generator identification number, intentionally disposing of waste through evaporation, throwing gloves, paint filters, and chemical rags into the garbage, and failing to label and properly store hazardous waste at the factory.

Carlson Engineered Composites says they are taking actions to become more accountable and safe for the St. Cloud community.
