Red Cross volunteers are helping out a family of four after a fire destroyed their home Saturday afternoon.

St. Cloud Fire Battalion Chief Leon Faust says crews were called to the 400 block of 22nd Avenue North just after 3 p.m. Saturday.

Faust says one adult and two children were at home when they heard a loud pop and smelled smoke. All three were able to escape unharmed.

The fire, starting in an electrical panel, made its way into the attic, causing an estimated $20,000 in damage. Faust says the St. Cloud Fire Department was on scene for three hours to ensure the fire was put out.

The family is receiving shelter, clothing, food and emotional support from the Red Cross.
