The St. Cloud Fireworks Committee has named their 2014 Honorary July 4th Fireworks Commissioner.

Fireworks Committee Volunteer Tom Richardson says the committee has named 88-year-old Beulah Rose Hutchens of St. Cloud to the honorary post. Hutchens, a longtime supporter of the fireworks, was announced to the position on Tuesday.

Her and her family has considered the St. Cloud Fireworks a mainstay in their 4th of July celebrations saying “Watching the fireworks is a happy family tradition, the kids loved it and everybody was always on deck for that.”

As part of her duties as the honorary fireworks commissioner, Hutchens will get to push the button that begins the fireworks show on the fourth. Also, Hutchens will get to ride on the St. Cloud Fire Department’s Antique Arens Fox fire truck in the Granite City Days Parade next weekend.

The St. Cloud fireworks will be celebrating their 67th year. They will be launched from the Mississippi River between Hester and Wilson Parks on July 4th starting at 10 p.m.
