St. Cloud Police and St. Cloud State University Public Safety alert the public of a phone scam that seems to be targeting international students.

St. Cloud Police report that the phone number 320-251-1200 is the police department’s non-emergency number and is an incoming phone line only. When calling this number it will either take the caller to the police department’s phone directory or directly to Stearns County Dispatch. This phone number can’t be used to make outgoing phone calls so it should never appear on a person’s caller ID.

Police advise people that it is likely a hoax if they receive a call from 320-251-1200 and to never give out personal or financial information to random phone calls.

This scam has been reported several times in the last six months.
