Archived: St. Cloud Police Looking For Suspect Involved In Car Thefts

St. Cloud Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man suspected of stealing two vehicles.

St. Cloud Police Lieutenant Jeffery Oxton says officers were called to the 3000 Block of St. Germain Street West around 8:40 a.m. Saturday morning after receiving a report of a stolen car. The caller said they had left their 2003 Chevy Impala running with the keys in the ignition when it was taken.

While on route to the call, Oxton says an officer saw the stolen Impala traveling southbound in the 3200 block of Cooper Avenue. The officer saw the vehicle run a stop sign at 33rd Street South and hit another vehicle causing the Impala to roll over.

The suspect then took off on foot toward the 1800 block of Red River Trail. No one in the other vehicle was injured.

Officers then set up a perimeter and were waiting for a K9 unit when the man had entered a home and had taken a 2001 Dodge Dakota pickup. The suspect fled southbound on Cooper Avenue, crashed through a fence and had gone off road to westbound Interstate 94. Officers were not able to pursue the pickup.

Police describe the subject as a white man in his mid-twenties with dark hair and a black jacket. The missing 2001 Dodge Dakota pickup is described as maroon in color with a topper. License plate number is 062-NDJ.

Anyone with information about the man or the whereabouts of the pickup is asked to contact the St. Cloud Police Department at 320-251-1200 or Tri-County Crime Stoppers at 320-255-1301.
