Neighborhoods across St. Cloud will be participating with the 33rd annual National Night Out next Tuesday, August 2nd.

Assistant police chief Jeff Oxton says local officers and firefighters will meet with neighborhood gatherings and encourage people to get to know each other, and be aware of crime.

Oxton says the night is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, get support for anti-crime efforts, strengthen police and neighbor relationships and send criminals a message to let them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

National Night Out will run from 6 to 9 p.m and St. Cloud residents are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the night with neighbors.
