St. Cloud police officers want the public to be aware of an ADT Home Security impersonator who visited a home in the area.

Sergeant Jason Burke says officers responded to a complaint at the 1400 block of 25th Street Southeast Tuesday morning after a man showed up saying he was with ADT.

Burke adds the man, who was white and appeared to be in his late 20’s or 30’s, claimed he was at the home to update security passwords and change the digital connection to cellular so it could be accessed from the homeowners phone. The man insisted that the update is paid for by the company and does not need to be paid by the customer.

The homeowner then called ADT and found that there was no scheduled appointment at that time.

The police department wants St. Cloud citizens to be conscious of this incident and reminds everyone to use caution when dealing with unsolicited service calls.
