The St. Cloud State University’s Theatre Department is staging a production called Art is Free.

The performance tells a story of how it is illegal to engage in an artistic act for compensation–where art is literally free and its illegal to buy or sell it. The cast is made up of a group of students from an improvisational class who will perform a devised play.

The show is directed by Costume Studio Director Carol Cooley and Professor Jen Tuder. Tuder says improvisation helps students learn how drama functions and how a play works.

The show is scheduled from Tuesday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center Arena Stage.
