Archived: St. Cloud Teen Charged With 2nd Degree Unintentional Murder

A St. Cloud teenager being held in the death of 20-year-old Davee Devose was charged with second degree unintentional murder Monday.

16-year-old Mohiyadin Mohamed Hassan appeared before Judge Frank J. Kundrat. Hassan was sent to a secure juvenile detention facility where he is waiting for his next court appearance. The State of Minnesota filed an appeal to try Hassan as an adult.

St. Cloud Police Sergeant Jason Burke says Hassan was walking with three other people at the intersection of 6th Avenue South and 5th Street South at 1:40 a.m. Friday. An argument broke out which led to a fight. Hassan allegedly stabbed Devose in the chest. Officers and paramedics tried to revive Devose, but he died at the scene.

Officers located Hassan in an alleyway near the 900 block of 5th Avenue South. A witness identified him as the person responsible for the stabbing. Officers recovered the knife one and half block away from the scene.

Hassan’s next court appearance will be Monday at 1:30 p.m.
