The first Wednesday of the month usually means tornado siren testing, although St. Cloud residents won’t hear that familiar siren this week.

Stearns County Acting Emergency Management Director Kristen Beste says the software system that runs the sirens is getting an update.

Stearns County officials don’t want to cause concern among residents that might think the tornado sirens aren’t working. Beste says only sirens within the St. Cloud city limits will be affected.

The software update is scheduled to be completed by the week of November 17, with the sirens back up and running.
