Archived: St. Cloud Will Receive 3-5 Inches of Snow in Weekend Storm
St. Cloud can expect up to five inches of snow in the winter storm moving over the Midwest. Meteorology professor Bob Weisman at St. Cloud State University says the computer forecasts have continued their trend of narrowing the forecast snow event for Friday afternoon and night, drifting the system further southward.
He predicts 2-4 inches in the second wave of snow for St. Cloud, Alexandria, Cambridge from mid-afternoon Friday through early morning Saturday. If you live in the Twin Cities, Hutchinson, Olivia, and Morris you can expect up to 4-7 inches of snow in the second wave.
Weisman wars there will be blowing snow problems at the tail end of the storm and after the snow stops Saturday morning through early afternoon. That will create blowing and drifting snow problems out of town in parts of central and southern Minnesota.
As temperatures fall back to zero Saturday he says serious wind chills and icy roads will pose problems through Sunday when the temps will be -20 to -30 below.
