A woman was rescued from the Mississippi River after her kayak capsized Monday afternoon.

Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner says 21-year-old Anita Henningsgaard of St. Cloud was kayaking down the Mississippi River in Le Sauk Township when her kayak tipped.

Henningsgaard was found hanging onto a tree north of the 9th Avenue Bridge.

Sheriff’s deputies along with the St. Cloud and Sartell Police Departments and the St. Cloud Fire Department were able to reach Henningsgaard and bring her to shore.

Henningsgaard was not injured in the accident.
