Archived: Stearns County Law Enforcement Was Locked Down Saturday

A gunshot-like that sound that caused the Stearns County Law Enforcement Center (LEC) on lock down on Saturday afternoon turned out to be a false alarm.

Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner says three county employees and three deputies were inside LEC when they heard a sound like a gunshot.

St. Cloud Police and the Minnesota State Patrol were dispatched to the area to assist the Sheriff Office. Two rounds of searches of both the inside and outside of the building resulted in no discovery of any suspicious person or item. The LEC was out of lock down around 6 p.m.

The incident turned out to be a bicycle tire that blew up with enough force to damage the tire rim. The bike was parked inside a hallway at LEC and belongs to one of the part-time employees.
