Archived: Stearns County Makes Changes To Emergency Assistance Programs
The Stearns County emergency general assistance program will be undergoing several changes.
County officials say making these changes will aid the Stearns County Human Services Department in helping more individuals and families by streamlining the eligibility process.
Changes to the program include residents can now apply for assistance every 18 months instead of every 12 months and applicants no longer have to take a basic needs test.
The Emergency General Assistance and Family Emergency Funds are mandatory programs designed to provide financial help to residents with short-term, non-recurring housing and utility expenses.
Revisions to the program were approved by the Stearns County Board of Commissioners.
Changes to the Emergency General Assistance Program will start July 1.
