Archived: Stearns County Offering Truck Weight Workshop
The Minnesota Department of Transportation in conjunction with Stearns County will be holding a workshop on load weight rules and regulations. The training will provide truck drivers and related businesses with information on load, road, axle, seasonal weights limits, and tire size in the state and local systems.
Stearns County Highway Engineer, Jodi Teich, says this is a free training for drivers and anyone else interested in learning more about freight hauling and its relevant concepts. The workshop is Wednesday, October 1st.
Some of the topics include:
• Road damage issues and how overweight trucks cost everyone
• Why overweight truck issues go beyond just gross and axle weights
• Classroom exercises to help identify concerns in individual trucks
• The difference between axle spacing and knowing the right tires for the weight
