Golf carts will soon be seen along county roadways.

The Stearns County Board of Commissioners approved a new ordinance Tuesday night allowing the use of motorized golf carts on county roads located within city limits.

The Board of Commissioners say drivers will still have the same rights and duties as any other driver of a vehicle. Golf carts can only be used on county roads from sunrise until sunset unless they are equipped with headlights, taillights and turn signals.

Golf carts driven on country roads will need to be licensed and drivers can get their permits from the Stearns County License Center.

This ordinance is set to be re-evaluated in May 2015.
