Archived: Student Government Organization Announces Its Election Results

St. Cloud State University’s Student Government Association announces the result of its election.

Students elected Summer Vogl as student government president and Neil Manning will serve as Vice President. Their ticket won the election with 75 percent of votes.

Out of more than 14,000 students eligible to vote, only 329, or just over two percent of the student body voted in the election and referendum issues put forward by Student Government.

The referendum results included a variety of subjects, such as adding a Middle Eastern Studies program to academic degrees offered by SCSU. Students also voted in favor of faculty being held accountable in their positions as educators. 55 percent of votes cast were in favor of the new university’s policy for add or withdrawal of courses.

Finally, the new Constitution developed by Student Government was not ratified due to a lack of quorum voting.
