Archived: Suspect In Tuesday’s Southside Shooting Charged

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) – St. Cloud authorities have charged a man who they say shot from a vehicle at a group of people while he was free on bond.

The St. Cloud Times reports 19-year-old Malcolm Cooper was charged Thursday with drive-by shooting, illegal possession of a firearm and second-degree assault with a firearm.

He was convicted of a previous gun charge in August and was awaiting an October sentencing. His new bond was set at $400,000.

Police say the shooting Tuesday near the Southside Boys & Girls Club left one woman with non-life-threatening injuries. They say she may have been hit by shrapnel. She tells police she was holding an infant at the time.

Police say Cooper’s intended target was a man who had previously argued with him.
