You may notice something more than just cars parked in the Tech High School parking lot in the upcoming weeks.

Tech High School is partnering with Central Minnesota Habitat for Humanity on a construction project in the school’s parking lot.

School District 742 officials say Tech High juniors and seniors will be building a six-bedroom home as part of the Technical Education’s Tiger Build program. The house is designed and funded by the CMHFH. The project is also open to St. Cloud Technical & Community College students who study construction trades.

This is the first year of Tech High School’s House Building Course and partnership with Habitat for Humanity. The school hopes to make it an annual project for students to gain skills in construction and business. The house will be moved to its permanent location in the spring.

The project kick-off will be at 4 p.m. Thursday and the public is welcome to attend.
