Archived: Three People Hospitalized After Car Struck Tree In St. Cloud

A St. Cloud man has been cited after falling asleep behind the wheel after the car he was driving hit a tree.

St. Cloud Police Lt. Jeff Oxton says officers were called to the intersection of 9th Avenue South and 13th Street South around 5:15 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Police found the car driven by 26-year-old Mohammed Abdulla Murshed of St. Cloud had left the road and struck a tree. Oxton says Murshed had fallen asleep.

Two other people were in Murshed’s car when it hit the tree. 20-year-old Ali Ahmed Omar was in the passenger seat when the accident occurred. Both he and Murshed suffered minor injuries.

20-year-old Latarynn Jennae Steeper, the backseat passenger, received substantial injuries, but they are not believed to be life threatening.

All three were taken to the St. Cloud Hospital.

Murshed was cited for inattentive driving.
