Archived: Three Vehicles Damaged In Accident at Washington Memorial Drive Tuesday Night

Three cars were damaged as a result of a roll-over accident on the south side of St. Cloud Tuesday night.

St. Cloud Police Lieutenant Jeff Oxton says officers responded to a three car accident at the intersection of Washington Memorial Drive and University Drive South at 6:53 p.m. Oxton says the police investigation shows 50-year-old Debra Dee Jones of St. Cloud was driving her SUV eastbound on University Drive while making an attempt to turn onto northbound Washington Memorial Drive. Jones failed to yield and collided head on with a car attempting to pass the westbound intersection on University Drive on a green light.

As a result, the car driven by 39-year-old Anthony Wade Welvaert of St. Cloud rolled over on the right side of the vehicle and slid into another car stopped in the south lane of Washington Memorial Drive. Jones’ car received severe damage, while Welvaert’s car had moderate damage. The third vehicle only had minor damage.

Oxton says Jones was cited for failing to yield at the right way, while Welvaert was cited for driving with a revoked license. Jones went to the St. Cloud hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
