Highway 23 in Waite Park will be reduced to single lanes in both directions starting Tuesday.

The lane closures will take place on Highway 23 between 10th Avenue South and 4th Street South.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation says crews will be constructing a new Highway 23 intersection at 17th Avenue South. This will permanently replace the Highway 23 intersection at 4th Street South.

MnDOT says the project will provide access to the new commercial development near 17th Avenue South and will improve the safety and efficiency of local traffic.

The road work project is scheduled to be completed by August 8.
