Two credit unions in St. Cloud announced the possibility of a merger between the organizations Friday.

Vice President of Marketing at St. Cloud Federal Credit Union, Sarah Mason, says they received pre-approval for the merger with St. Cloud City and County Employees Credit Union at a special meeting Wednesday. Final regulatory approval isn’t expected until later this year.

Mason adds the merged credit unions will become one organization under the St. Cloud Federal Credit Union name, with assets more than $140 million serving about 18,000 members with three branches.

For now, both credit unions will operate as usual until final approval.
