Archived: UPDATE: New Information Released On Officer Shot In Hutchinson Over The Weekend
HUTCHINSON, Minn. (AP) – The Hutchinson police officer who was shot during a scuffle with a suspect was in his third week on the job.
Minnesota Public Radio News reports 23-year-old Jacob Willers was hired by the Hutchinson Police Department Oct. 12. He was shot in the leg after responding to a disturbance at a residence. Willers is recovering.
Willers and McLeod County sheriff’s Deputy Matt Wyatt responded to the disturbance Nov. 1. Authorities say the officers struggled with a suspect who was fatally shot by Wyatt. The suspect who was killed is identified as 49-year-old Luverne Christenson.
