Archived: Wind Chill Advisory in Effect Until Thursday Morning in Central Minnesota

St. Cloud and central Minnesota is under a windchill advisory with dangerously cold temperatures settling in. The National Weather Service has issued the windchill advisory until 9 a.m. Thursday.

Meteorology professor at St. Cloud State University Bob Weisman says the winds will ease off mainly after midnight tonight. The area may see wind chills for a while in the -30 to -25 range, but light winds after midnight will keep the wind chill close to the temperature. Weisman adds the trouble is that the temperature will be in the minus teens to near -20.

The forecast update also shows the track of the two-waved storm from Thursday night to Saturday coming northward, so he has upped snowfall totals in central Minnesota to 4-8 inches: 1-2 inches Thursday night into early Friday, and 3-6 inches from late Friday afternoon into Saturday morning.

There could be problems with blowing snow late in the storm and afterwards.
It should be cold enough to cause trouble with vehicles left out all night both tonight and Saturday night into Sunday morning.
