A woman died of a gunshot wound in a mobile home in Rice Wednesday afternoon.

Benton County Sheriff Troy Heck says deputies received a call at 1 p.m. from an adult woman in Rockwood Estates a mobile home park who needed treatment for a gunshot wound. Deputies, first responders and paramedics responded to the scene along Highway 10 northwest of Rice. The victim died at the scene.

The sheriff’s office is actively investigating the cause of death. Heck says there is no danger to the public at this moment.

Rice Police and Fire Departments and Gold Cross Ambulance assisted the sheriff’s office at the scene.
