SCSU's New Athletic Director: Heather Weems
In June 2012, Heather Weems started her new role as SCSU’s Athletic Director. Weems visited the KVSC studios in August to discuss with Station Manager, Jo McMullen-Boyer, and KVSC listeners her new role.
SCSU expanded the role of Athletic Director to include Sports Facilities and Campus Recreation staff and budget oversight along with the previous job duties involved with Husky Athletic programs. Weems discusses her optimism for the new role in addition to her expansive experience that has qualified her for the job.
SCSU Athletics has gone through many changes within the last two years including joining the National Collegiate Hockey Conference in 2013. Listen now to hear how Weems plans to face the challenges of leading a cohesive athletic program at SCSU.

St. Cloud State Men's Hockey to Join NCHC
The St. Cloud State University men's hockey program held a press conference Thursday afternoon to announce their intention to leave the Western Collegiate Hockey Association in 2013 to join the newly formed National Collegiate Hockey Conference.
KVSC broadcasted the press conference live, and KVSC Sports Director Zack Fisch interviewed SCSU President Dr. Earl Potter as well as SCSU men's hockey head coach Bob Motzko following the announcement.

Doyle also spoke with Wild radio host Kevin Fallness and television play-by-play announcer Dan Terhaar about the road tour and interacting with Minnesota hockey fans.

In 2010, the Huskies went 10-3 and advanced all the way to the Division Two football playoffs where they fell to the University of Minnesota Duluth in overtime. SCSU saw great performances in 2010 from senior wideout Fred Williams (93 receptions, 1,616 yards, 17 TD) and redshirt-freshman quarterback Phillip Klaphake (2,918 yards passing, 959 yards rushing, 35 total TD).
