The 2^nd ranked St. Cloud State baseball team didn’t kick off the weekend on the right foot against Southwest Minnesota State University. Thanks to a 6 run 4^th inning the Huskies entered the final inning of play tied at 9-9. However the Mustangs would drive in 4 runs in the last frame to top #2 St. Cloud State 13-9.

Saturday’s second game saw the Huskies blank the Mustangs in 7 of the 9 innings and explode for 5 runs in the 5^th inning to earn the Saturday split 6-4.

The Huskies continued right where they left off in game one on Sunday, putting 5 runs on the board in the opening frame. They just kept getting stronger as the game went on and eventually beat the Mustangs by a final of 12-1.

It was more of the same in game two and the Huskies jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead after one inning of play. The Mustangs answered with a 4 run 2^nd inning, but the Huskies responded with 2 runs in the bottom of the 3^rd to reclaim the lead 5-4. They wouldn’t allow the Mustangs to score again and won the fourth and final game of the weekend 14-4.

#2 St. Cloud State is now 33-3 on the season (17-3 in NSIC) and will host the University of Mary at Joe Faber Field on Wednesday at 1:30pm and 4:30pm.
