ST. CLOUD, Minn. –  It was Tackle Cancer night at Tiger Stadium as Tech High School hosted Sartell in a town rivalry game. The Sabres would score first and survive a Tech first half comeback to earn the 34-20 win.

It was a slow start to the day for Tech quarterback Andrew Brown as his offense would go 3-and-out on their first three drives of the game.

Sartell powerhouse running back Jonah Ambrosier would take control of the field, rushing for a touchdown on the opening drive. It was the first of three touchdowns for the senior on the day.

After a soft fumble recovered by Tech, Sartell would force a punt to get them into scoring position. Ambrosier would score his second touchdown on the first play of the second quarter, extending the Sabres lead to 14-0.

The Tigers would answer on the very next play, as the ensuing kickoff would be returned for an 87-yard highlight-reel touchdown by Goenner Beuning to make it a one-score game.

With just 15 seconds remaining in the first half, MarQwon Brown was able to capitalize, scoring an 8-yard rush to head to the half all knotted at 14.

The Sabres would force the run game onto the Tigers on the first drive of the second half, setting up a great field advantage. Jackson Knott would surprise the bleachers with a fake jet sweep to the right side, resulting in a massive 57-yard touchdown run to take a swift 21-14 lead.

The rest of the game would be all Sartell, as Tech consistently got unlucky with cramps from key players.

Tigers junior star receiver Everett Stine wowed the crowd throughout the whole game. His time came when he had a hall of fame one-handed touchdown catch at the back pylon to try to start a comeback.

Ambrosier recorded his third score, this time via the air, to lock up the game for Sartell. After a missed extra point, the final score ended 34-20.

Both teams are now 1-1 on the 2026 season. St. Cloud Tech will be on the road next week as the Tigers travel to face Breck at 6 p.m. from McKnight Stadium. Tune in to the action on 97.5 RadioX.
