Women’s Hockey Splits with UConn

Over the weekend the women’s hockey team split with the University of Connecticut.

On Friday the game was an even back and forth battle with SCSU controlling most of the play during the final 40 minutes. Extra time was needed and in heartbreak fashion, UConn’s Natalie Snodgrass found the back of the net for a 1-0 win over the Huskies.

Saturday’s game started with dominance by UConn as they put up two goals within the first five minutes. Momentum took its time but eventually did shift in favor of SCSU in the third period. Julia Tylke would start the scoring for the Huskies just 36 seconds into the third and then tallying another to even the game at 2-2. It came down to the final five minutes but Laura Kluge would tuck one past the goaltender after getting a pass from Kayla Friesen. SCSU would hold on for the 3-2 victory.

The Huskies will be on the road this weekend when they travel to Colgate University.
