It’s certainly been a season to remember for the Huskies’ Clara Krenz.

The junior libero has moved into third all-time in the St. Cloud State recordbooks in career digs over the course of the season, earned her third career NSIC Defensive Player of the Week award, and on Saturday afternoon she tied a career high with a whopping 34 digs in just 3 sets.

St. Cloud State (12-8, 8-6) swept away Winona State (9-13, 6-8) at Halenbeck Hall in a hotly contested match, 26-24, 25-22, and 25-22.

Krenz’s 19 digs in the first set and red-hot starts by middle hitters Micah Nier and Marah Mulso helped SCSU take the first set despite putting up 11 attacking errors to Winona’s 4. The Huskies settled in over the next two sets, recording a combined 10 errors on their swings. SCSU outkilled the Warriors 49-39 and outdug them 75-62.

Mulso had a career day for the Huskies, terminating a career-high 13 kills on .346 hitting to go with 2 blocks and 2 digs, while Nier finished with 5 kills. Freshman outside hitter Linsey Rachel double-doubled with a match-high 14 kills and 12 digs, and tied a career mark with 2 aces. Setter Maddy Torve had another monster outing, finishing with 43 assists, good for just over 14 a set. The Huskies received some impressive serving runs from defensive specialist Taylor Olstad, who tied a career-high with 3 aces while digging out 10 balls.

Winona State gained a massive boost from senior Maria Wrage, who went 10-2-18 for a .444 hitting percentage and added a block. Setter Bre Maloney frustrated the Huskies with her quick dump move, ending with 7 kills on .462 hitting and assisting on 30 kills.

The Huskies begin a season-defining four match road stretch on Friday evening at the defending National Champions #4 Concordia-St. Paul at 6:00 p.m. The match can be heard on the KVSC Sports Stream, with Husky Den Pregame at 5:45 p.m.
