Huskies Volleyball Swept by #5 Northern State

Plagued by errors, St. Cloud State (13-11, 9-9) fell in straight sets at #5 Northern State (23-3, 15-3) on Saturday afternoon, 25-14, 25-23, and 25-19.

The Wolves outkilled SCSU by just 45-40, but the Huskies’ 22 errors on their swings truly did them in, as Northern recorded just 7 attacking errors.

Linsey Rachel had another stellar showing for the Huskies, breaking the single-season St. Cloud State record for kills by a freshman during the match, double-doubling with 13 kills and 15 digs. Bella Erne racked up a career-high 6 kills on .208 hitting after being subbed in midway through the first set. Maddy Torve piled up a nice night, assisting on 33 kills while adding 7 digs and 3 kills on .375 hitting.

Morgan Baufield led Northern State with 11 kills (11-0-20) and 4 blocks, tormenting the Huskies’ defense on 2-sets down the weakside line. Hailey Busch kicked in a double-double with 10 kills and 14 digs, while Laura Snyder posted a 9-1-16 line with 3 digs and a block. Setter Ashley Rozell played a major role in the Wolves’ offensive efficiency (team hitting percentage of .365), assisting on 35 terminations while adding 4 digs, 2 blocks, 1 ace, and a 3-0-5 attacking line.

The Huskies begin their regular season weekend finale on Friday with a 6:00 p.m. tilt against Minot State at Halenbeck Hall.
