Senior pitcher of the SCSU Huskies baseball team, Kyle Fischer, was selected by the Miami Marlins during the 2014 MLB Draft on Saturday, June 7, 2014. Fischer was picked in the 30th round, 887 overall. He is the 13th baseball player in Husky history to be drafted by the MLB.

Fischer is a New Ulm, MN native, a graduate of New Ulm High School. He was a standout pitcher for the Huskies during his career at SCSU. During the 2014 season Fischer had a 6-4 record for the Huskies and a 3.04 ERA, leading the Huskies with 71 strikeouts and 74 inning of work. Fischer tied the team record for most career wins (32) and ranks third in team records with 233 career strikeouts.
