Archived: Husky Volleyball To Face MSU-Moorhead On Friday

The St. Cloud State volleyball team makes the trek up north to face Minnesota Moorhead this Friday at 7pm. The Huskies enter the match with a 5-6 overall record and a 1-2 mark in the NSIC. The Dragons come in with a 9-2 overall mark and an impressive 2-1 record in NSIC play.

The Huskies are led offensively by the duo of Rachel Burke and Sophie Jaskulske who both have at least 100 kills on the season so far and defensively by Brianne Stamer who ranks 2nd in the NSIC in digs with 5.8/set.

One key stat to watch for in Friday’s match will be attack percentage and blocks. The Huskies are hitting .211 on the season compared to the Dragons’ .236 mark. However inside the NSIC the Huskies are hitting just .184. Their opponent hit percentage also rises from .174 outside of the conference to .278 against NSIC competition.

Another stat to watch for is blocks as Moorhead leads the NSIC in blocks per set at 2.9. Senior Kaitlin VanWinkle (1.14/set) and junior Kelsey Hartkopf (1.45/set) each average over a block per set for the Dragons.
