The St Cloud State Huskies did something they have never done before, sweeping the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers at Mariucci Arena. In a back and forth affair on Friday night, St Cloud jumped out to a 1-0 lead when David Morley scored for the Huskies. The Huskies fell flat in the second period with just two shots on goal and the Gophers took a 2-1 lead heading into the third period. But SCSU rallied for two goals from seniors Jimmy Murray and Joey Benik marching to a 3-2 win,

On Sunday the Huskies and Gophers traded blows early but St Cloud got four power play goals in a 7-4 win. Judd Peterson and Blake Winecki each had two goals and Charlie Lindgrin made 29 saves. With the wins SCSU is 11-3 on the season and return to conference play this weekend against the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
