ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Unofficial results for the primary election are in, with the top-two vote-getters in each race going forward to the general election. 

St. Cloud City Council had primary elections in Wards 1, which covers central parts of the city, including most of downtown, as well as the SCSU campus and surrounding neighborhoods, and Ward 4, which covers most of the south and southwest side of the city.

In Ward 1, three candidates vied for their spot on the general election.

The top two vote-getters, Charlie Hobbs and Dave Masters, will move forward to have their names on the November 3 ballot. 

Hobbs took 51.9% of the vote, and Masters took 30.76% of the vote. The third person on the primary election ballot, Dreyton Nichols, came out with only 17.34% of the vote. 

In Ward 4, four candidates faced off on the ballot. Joe Baratta and Craig Heurung will move forward to the general election for Ward 4. Baratta took 33.91% of the votes, and Heurung took 40.05%. 

Amaan Abdi comes in behind Baratta with 22.89% of the votes, with Zak X taking only 3.15% of the votes. 

In another local race, Mike Conway and Abdi Daisane will be going forward to represent Minnesota House District 14A. 

Two republican and two DFL candidates faced off in the primary election. Conway took 62.25% of the vote, and Daisane took 62.52%. 

The other two candidates, John Jose and Paul R.F. Schumacher, were eliminated in the primary. Jose took 37.75% of the vote, and Schumacher took 37.48%. 

The general election will take place on November 3, with early voting starting in September.
