ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The St. Cloud State women’s soccer team opened up their home schedule with a 0-0 draw against Minnesota Duluth on Saturday. Both teams had their chances, but the goalkeepers were up to the task.

Senior Jaylee Strickland made six saves for the Huskies, earning her first shutout of the season in her first start. Strickland’s best save came early in the second half, leaping up and deflecting a Nora Helvig shot over the net. The Bulldogs also had a great chance in the first half when Jessica Eichens hit the crossbar.

SCSU threatened late, earning a corner with just over a minute to play. Junior Darby Allen put the ball into the box where it pinballed around, but Edy Halverson came up with a save for UMD. Halverson finished the day with three saves.

St. Cloud State moves to 1-1-1 with the result. Next up for the Huskies is the start of NSIC play when they host the UMary Marauders on Friday from Husky Stadium. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
