ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The first cross-town showdown of the season took place inside the St. Cloud Tech gym as the Tigers hosted their crosstown rivals, the Apollo Eagles, for girls’ volleyball. Tech controlled the match from start to finish, sweeping Apollo in three sets, 25-6, 25-13 and 25-10.

After a tough five-set loss Tuesday, the Tigers didn’t dwell on the past. Tech came out hot and never let up, painting the corners with kills down the line and as the Eagles spread out to protect the lines, the ball would fall to empty floor in the middle.

The Eagles put together a few small runs throughout the match, but they couldn’t sustain the momentum long enough to challenge the Tigers. It was a fast-paced and convincing performance from the Tigers, who improve to 1-1 in conference play and 2-1 overall.
