ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud Tech boys soccer rolled to a 7-1 victory over the Brainerd Warriors on Tuesday. The Tigers saw five different goal scorers, including a hat trick from senior Abdirahman Salad. 

Salad would open the scoring just under nine minutes into the first half, breaking through the defense and slipping the ball to the right side of the net. Senior Momahed Muhumed doubled the lead at the 22:28 mark as Tech was in control in the first half. 

It wouldn’t take long for the Tigers lead to double again, as Tech struck for two goals just 99 seconds apart. With 16:45 left in the half, Salad got his second of the night with a shot off the post. Senior Abdishakur Mohamed then scored at 14:45 to make it 4-0. 

The second half would see the momentum continue for the Tigers as junior Abdulahi Abdi scored just 59 seconds into the frame to increase the lead to 5-0. 

Salad polished off his hat trick five minutes later to the delight of the Tech crowd. The senior cut through the defense of the Warriors and fired the ball under the crossbar. 

Rounding out the Tiger offense was junior Vaughn Blair who got an excellent pass and buried it home for his first varsity goal. 

Brainerd would get on the board late from senior Preston Bernander, who took advantage of some nice passing from teammates Brady Larson and Connor West and drilled a ball into the bottom right corner. 

St. Cloud Tech is now 4-2 on the season and will be back in action on Thursday as they travel to face ROCORI. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
